Hot Music for Hot People: August 10 – Leif Vollebeck, Anberlin, The Eagles

I’ve got some more hot music for all you hot people out there.  We’re going to talk about one of Montreal’s finest emerging artists, a band that plays some good emo, and the always interesting Tom Petty.  So here we go!

Emerging

Leif Vollebeck is the hot emerging artist of this update.  Why?  Well, he’s got a great sound if you’re into the oh-so-cool (but don’t ever mention it, that would be uncool) world of indie-rock.

Leif Vollebeck likes to hang out in mid-tone coloured areas.

After finishing up his Canadian West Coast tour last week, Leif Vollebekk is apparently a man with rockstar-like stamina.  Dates for a European tour in September are coming soon so you’ll have to wait until the end of September to catch him playing back in North America.  When he does land back on the continent, you’ll be able to check him out at Pop Montreal before heading out to the west coast of Canada and the United States.  Here’s where you can catch the young whippersnapper:

'We're Anberlin, and we hang out in black and white.'

Anberlin is back and ready for action.  The band that is best known for not being a Christian rock band, but kinda being one, but not really, is releasing a new album on September 7th on Universal Republic Records.  According to the band, the new album is going to be less poppy and a lot darker than their previous records, could they be the anti-AFI?

International

That's a lot of red. Also, Tom Petty should never be on the cover of anything.

Last up we have some news from Tom Petty.  Eagle Rock Entertainment has released ‘Damn the Torpedoes’ under their Classic Albums series.  The documentary focuses on the making of the quintessential Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album.  Featuring interviews with Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench and co-producers Ron Blair and Jimmy Iovine, the documentary covers all angles of the album.
