Normally I’m not one to review a two-song EP, but hey, this one is pretty good, so why not?  Teenage Kicks are a band that have apparently existed on the outskirts of Toronto for years, the Pluto of the Toronto music scene if you will, never really sure if they’re a serious band or not.  With the release of their first official 7”, they are definitely closing their orbit to becoming a force in the Toronto rock and roll scene.

The two songs on the disc, I Get What You Give and Shook Our Bones are loaded with 70’s influence, some great progressions and purposefully lazy vocals.  I Get What You Give is the stronger song of the two with a lazy summer groove that sounds like it came straight out of Dazed and Confused.

Shook Our Bones does have a decent groove but doesn’t exhibit the same levels of song composition as the first track.  The band has only released these two songs so far, if this is an indication of their capabilities, with some focus on their song-writing they’ll definitely be able to pull out a great debut album.
